Prevention – high fire danger
No open fire, no outdoor barbecuing. Extinguish cigarettes completely. Do not leave glass bottles or mirrors in vegetation. Do not park vehicles on dry grass.
If smoke or fire is nearby
Call 112 or 193 immediately. Close windows and doors. Turn off air conditioning. Keep your vehicle ready to drive. Follow official evacuation routes – do not drive through smoke areas on your own.
Evacuation
Follow the instructions of fire brigade and police. Take important documents, medication and water with you. Secure pets. No detours through closed-off areas. Do not wait to return if an evacuation has been ordered.
Specifics for Cres and Lošinj
Karst landscape burns quickly and uncontrollably. Bora wind conditions significantly increase fire risk. Ferry connections may be suspended during active fires – check in good time. Water supply on the islands is limited.
